Doom: The RPG
Alright, with the remote success (if you could call it that) of my Damnation RP, I decided to do an actual doom RPG. Now the way it works is that you are part of a squadron of UAC marines. This is like BoS, just throw what ever, and hope it sticks. Now, the weapons are pretty much the same, except I’ve made a few changes:

New Melee weapons:
Combat Knife: A 6 inch knife with brass knuckles
Stunner: Zaps Demons, holding them in place. Alt Fire: Discharges a lethal bolt of energy up to ten ft.
Grinder: Drill-like weapon that turns enemies into hamburger

New Pistols:
Auto Magnum: Fires huge bullets very quickly
Power Gun: Fires a small bolt of lightning
Igniter: Demonic pistol: Fires a bolt of hellfire, immolating enemies.
Mob Gun: Fires an airfoil charge that shreds enemies, has little stopping power but cuts like so many knives

New shotguns:
Impaler: Splits a uranium shell into dozens of small shards: Very lethal up close.
Combat Shotgun: Semi-auto and full Auto modes of fire
Shredder: Fires three shells that when the hit their targets split off into many shots: good crowd contol

New Machinguns/Chainguns
Equalizer: Experimental UAC chaingun that fires high-energy rounds that hit with tremendous force.
Grumbar: Rail Gun Assault Rifle: Good rate of fire and stopping power.
KMP-3 SMG: Fires a 10mm caseless round that has low stopping power, but very high rate of fire.
Chaos Gun: Heavy tri-barreled shoulder mounted weapon that fires a 9mm caseless round of depleted uranium extremely quickly with extreme stopping power. (Very rare)

New Energy Weapons:
Pulse Rifle: Fire small bolts of energy very quickly.
Laser Rifle: Well, it’s a laser
Immolater: Fires a bolt of plasma: Explosive

New Rocket Launchers
MARS (Multi Application Rocket System): Backpack missile weapon using a plasma warhead.
Rocket Shotgun: Fires three missiles per shell. Excellent stopping power, though not very popular.

Now, the usual rules apply. Every one starts out as the survivors of the squadron. This follows the original doom storyline. Will eventually progress to Doom 3. You may have 3 main weapons, 2 sidearms, and 2 melee weapons. Grenades optional. You can add new weapons/power-ups/demons if you want. I’ll eventually have a separate thread for this.

My character:
Paul Jensen
Weight: 340
Height: 7’3’’
Greasy Dark Brown Hair, Rough Shaven, Massive Frame, Emerald Green Eyes

Main Weapons:
Impaler
Machine Gun
Super Shotgun

Side arms
Auto Magnum
Power Gun

Melee Weapons
Stunner
Combat Knife

Bio: Paul’s parents are Scottish immigrants who came to America. He recently signed up because he was out of money, out of a job, and had no other options. He’s a good shot, but has a temper when he loses it, and can dish it out. His attitude is that he hates the marines and usually is in a good mood (Til something ruins it). He’s nearly ended up court marshaled a half a dozen times for brawling.

I need at least two other people for this.

I know most of the Doom plotline, and most of the locations throughout Doom 1 and two. Doom 3, though, is going to be new to me.

Special note: if this is only going to be you and me, sarge, let it be known that this is not to be just as a post-counter; this is genuine interest.

Name: Julie Angela (yet again, another female character)
Code Name: Death's Angel
Weight: 160
Height: 6'2"
White hair with red streaks from bangs to hairtips, usually done in a regular ponytail tucked beneath the back of her shirt/armor; softly muscular (defined, but not intimidating), wiry frame, obsidian black eyes

Main weapons:
MARS
Combat shotgun
Shredder

Side arms:
Igniterx2 (usually dual-wielded)

Melee:
Grinder
Stunner

BIO:
A drifter from Brazil, she signed up for the military life--and the violence that it can cause. Had several disagreements with her commanding officers, and caused many broken bones over it--most of them their bones. Had been dishonorably discharged, but had a special pardon reinstating her 6 months prior to the storyline's beginning. Her first tour on Mars is winding down to a close, and she's wishing she'd seen some action relating to bloodshed instead of babysitting those tech-geeks.

OOC: I guess it’ll be you n’ me. Nobody else posted. Well, let’s go.

Paul had been left with the rather boring and uninteresting job of guarding the shuttle. His companion, a fairly attractive young lass by the name of Julia. He had overheard some of the others talking about her: She had been dishonorably discharged, but got a six-month pardon. Something about a scuffle with some of the commanders.

He supposed she must have gotten on their good side. He also noticed she had one of those MARS systems. The UAC figured their marines needed some heavy firepower against vehicles. The rockets were apparently a plasma warhead. They were heavy, weighing about 30 pounds, and the missiles could be as dangerous to their users as the enemy.

He snorted. Damn UAC scientists.
He had just begun to doze off when:

“Man, what a bloodbath! Bodies everywhere!”

He was shocked, the first word they had gotten back from their buddies. He leaned forward into the console.

“Hey, look over there! Someone in the shadows! Huh? Oh Shi-“ <SPLAT!>

“What the-! He got Jim! Blast em!”

<BANG!> <BANG!> <BANG!> “GRAAGH!”

“I got em! I got-“ <SHINNIK!>

“I’m falling back! Repeat! I’m falling back!”

Gunshots, more gunshots.

Slurp!

Silence.

Paul couldn’t believe it. 3 dozen soldiers obliterated within 2 hours. Grabbing his impaler and looking at Julia, his stare intense, a look of unwavering determination in his eyes. “I can’t believe it,” His voice was marked by the faint lilt that gave the Scot their distinctive voice, “the squad was completely wiped out. I don’t have the skills to pilot this thing, and don’t think you do either. No offense meant.”

He took a deep breath to steady himself. “We cannot stay here, and I for one am not waiting to scragged. We may as well go in.” Coking his gun, he smiled. Walked towards the door of the facility, and went in.

He wouldn’t give up, he would get home.

Julia looked back at Paul. She heard the conversation of her own squad, who had been only two klicks from the shuttle. She sighed. "This was the final day of the frikkin' tour, too." She checked her personal weapons, including the MARS. The morons who went in to the compound had taken most of the ammo, leaving her only two warheads. Plenty of shotgun and Igniter ammo, though. She got on her weapon harness, strapped on her arms, and headed in after Paul.

They approached the door, and started hesitantly moving forward into the main Hangar. Heavy breathing could be heard all around them, seemingly echoing off the walls. "I thought I heard the coms go silent? Who's still alive?" She whispered. She checked her comm unit. "Keep to channel 4 if we get separated," she said. Shouldering her Shredder, she took point, motioning Paul to advance. Suddenly, from the right, there were inhuman growls, and two coporals came trudging towars them. They groaned and breathed, then raised their pistols and started to fire. "Cover!" She shouted.

Paul threw himself behind a pillar. “Damn it! What the hell are they thinking?” He snarled. He leaned out and fired. The magnetically accelerated shards eviscerated one and turned the other into a bloody pincushion.

“Lass, I think somethin’ is seriously wrong here, look at that one’s eyes.” Paul pointed at one that was the more intact of the two. His eyes were a milky white, pupiless eyes. There was also blood around his mouth. Internal injuries maybe. “If there’s any survivors, we’d best be findin’ em’.”

He looked around. The heavy breathing continued, as if mocking them with the supposed “life” of the people they came to rescue. That when he heard a sound that chilled him to the bone.

It was a scream, a human’s scream. Followed by rapid, machine gun type fire.

“We got survivors, though by the sounds of that, whom ever it is won’t last much longer.” With that, he took off at a dead run towards the source. But his swift movement was cut short when the weapons fire ceased and labored breathing, different in tone from what was echoing all around them.

Carefully, he poked his head around the corner. He could see another marine, possible hostile, and man with a chainsaw, riddled with holes. Very carefully he began to creep towards him, moving very quietly for a man his size, until he tripped. His threw his hands out to catch himself. The man whipped around his machine gun.

“Don’t move!” He said rather ferociously. His face was barely visible beneath his helmet, but he could’ve swore the guy couldn’t be anymore that 18 years old.

“Easy lad, I thought you were one of those buggers that attacked us. My partner’s just behind. Oi! Julia! We got a survivor!” He sent over the comm. He got his feet, dusted him self off, and grinned at the young man. “What’s your name kid?”

“Avery, Mick. Listen, while I’m grateful and all, we need to go now! Understand? I’ll tell you what I know, but we leave now, okay!” The kid seemed panicked. He hit a door, and gestured for them to enter. “I’ve been hiding here for a while, and I’ve got some supplies.” He dashed in.

(OOC): So that way are character’s aren’t the only friendly company to each other, I’m gonna add a few NPC’s. Will that screw anything up?

OOC: Not too much. I mean, Doom was a one-man show; we're just improvising on this, so why not? Though, if at all possible, I'd like to stick to the maps developed; easier to track, and my memory is pretty good as to what we meet and when. And, naturally, since it's the two of us so far, we can do minor character control (non-combat, of course).

IC: Julia had tracked forward after she got her call from Paul, and managed to slip into the room just as the door was closing behind her. She took one look at the newbie and decided to keep a closer eye on him. She looked back at the wall they just went through. Nearly seamless, unless you could just see the release latch to the left of the door.

Turning again to the kid, she said, "How'd you survive this? All comms have been down for the past couple of hours, except for the short-wave frequencies; why didn't you try to short-wave for help?" He nervously licked his lips. "I got separated from my squad just after the...things just kept coming...I got lucky and found this hidden compartment..."

He was rapidly breathing and began to tremble. "Take it easy son," Paul said, and laid a massive hand on his shoulder. Mick inhaled a deep breath, and visibly calmed. "Yessir." He saluted them and began his report.

"My detatchment had just come from the Phobos labratory, taking an experimental hand-held portal generator for site-to-site, short range transportations--human test subjects. The other parts of my company were stationed between the lab, the central processing station, and the main computer control stations. I overheard one of the traveling scientists say that long-range had proven, well, unsavory affects on the test subjects, most common was maddness. They theorized the dimensional jump just needed some refinement and data that could only be gathered from short range travels. The test subjects started from the labs with equipment wired to them. The first came through with very little side effects, so things were going well. Then all hell breaks loose." He gulps, and draws another calming breath.

"They looked like our men, but they acted different. Their gaze wasn't right. They held themselves funny. After several dozen more came through, the gizmo went haywire and stayed on regardless of the scientist's trying to shut it off. Even after they somehow managed to turn the power off, it kept going. Other things came out, and the men that came previously through the gateway turned on our small group." He let out a small sob, then started to shake again.

Julie sat back and digested the story, then got up, patted the kid's helmet, and said. "Enough. Your report is good." She took inventory of the closet they found themselves in. Backpacks with food, luckily, were here; but backpacks could also hold more ammo. Shotgun shells, bullet mags, and some energy cells were also found here. No rockets, of course. "Curse the politician that doesn't keep explosives inside a hanger to defend against incoming attacks," she grumbled. She threw a couple of energy cells for her Igniters and her hip Stunner, and as many shotgun shells that her side packs could hold. She hefted the pack over the MARS system, which she put to power-save mode. Looking around, she also saw a couple of Quik-Patch kits and one full Med-Kit. "We'll need those," she said, and threw what Quik-patches as possible. "Let's get on the move. I've got what I can carry, and will be saving the MARS rockets for emergencies."

(OOC): Good, I’m glad, now, on with the show. Oh and, I’m looking for visual images of the maps.

Paul continued thinking on it. After what he had just heard, he couldn’t believe it. But…he had heard rumors of some kind of teleportation experiment. He continued to puzzle on the story. “Alright, we get the hell out of here, find this portal, and shut down, permanently. I don’t like this, but we’re the only ones left.”

Grabbing some extra impaler ammo, he proceeded out the door.

“Let’s rock.” He growled.

As he emerged into what looked like some sort of command center, a zombie with riot shield suddenly emerged from behind a large, boxlike structure. It began to fire its pistol, although it wasn’t very accurate.
“Cover! And watch it, that damn things’ got a shield! Whoa!” He jumped back, taking cover behind the wall. Two more had emerged with shotguns. “Make that 3, the one with the shield givin’ em back up. Let’s take em’ out!”

(OOC): Found one! I don't know if it'll show, but, worth a shot.

Julai and Mick came out and immediately ducked behind the wall on the far side of the corridor. Several more once-men (who she was now considering calling zombies for lack of compassion and life), came rambling forward, pointing pistols or shotguns and firing blindly. She caught a graze of pellets on her arm, but didn't disable her arm's mobility. Hefting her Shredder, she pumped some ammo into it, and began firing at the most packed locations, letting the shrapenal that the Shredder cause the majority of the damage; it even managed to drop a few. That zombie with a shield, through was going to cause some problems. "Boy, I didn't catch your name. What was it?" She asked. "Mick, ma'am." She nodded. "Lay some cover fire. I'm going in to take down that shielder." He gulped, but steel entered into his eyes and braced his chaingun. "Ready on your go," he said. "NOW!" She shouldered her Shredder, and drew both Igniters and rushed toward the shielder while the whirr of the chaingun was eating ammo and dropping badguys. "Julie, what the heck you doing?" Paul shouted, then took one look at her goal and assisted.

Now within range, she let loose a torrent of fire, melting the shield right from the zombie's hands. It raised it's pistol, but another heat blast melted his head from his body. She grabbed the falling body and used it as a corpse shield to take more blows as she advanced on the last of the zombies, burning as she went along with one hand.

Once the room had been cleared, she motioned the others in. However, she heard some moaning and--pig snorting?--coming down the corridor leading to the far side of the room. "Something is coming our direction," she said, and pointed to the hall entrance.

“Great, just great! All we need is more company.” Paul had shouldered the impaler and checked his machine gun. It had a full clip. ‘Good, now let’s send these bastards back to hell!’ He thought.

He rushed around the corner and- BAM! BAM! BAM! “Holy shit! Get back we got-OWWWW!” A ball of flame impacted his chest. Where the hell had that come from! He began firing at the zombies, busting open chest plates and disemboweling bodies. That’s when he saw it. A large, heavily muscled creature with a brown hide was hurling fireballs from a tower. “What the hell? What is that thing?!” He began spraying the corridor wildly.

“Stay in cover, that guy can hurt.” He began to pat out the lingering flames on his chest.

She took a look around the corner of the hallway, and sure enough she saw the brown creature--two in fact--from a towered position opposite to them, flinging fire balls at their general position. She gathered an idea in her head. "Hold fire for a sec, Paul." She dashed out and grabbed one of the zombies with a pistol, turned its position, and began to blindly fire up at the two things. Provoked, they hurled some balls o'flame back at her. At the last second, she shoved her shield at the incoming projectiles. They hit, but didn't kill. She kept her weapon trained on it--as it began to fire up at the snipers. Some of its buddies, witnessing what had happened, turned their attention from attacking Paul, Julia, and Mick and began to focus on their own friends in that sharpshooter's nest. She backpeddaled to the group. "They can't stand to have an alien of their kind beat on their own; look!" She pointed out to the hallway. A couple of hits did land on the brown guys--"Imps," muttered Mick. They both turned to look at him. He stared back. "That's what one of the scientists called those brown ones. Some sort of reinforced hide covering muscle, and they have some sort of control of fire; hence them hurling those fire balls."

Eventually the imps were taken down, and the last one or two zombies, somewhat charred by the imps' fire, again focused their attention back to the party. "Easy pickings," said Paul, and the three of them rushed. The firefight was over in a second. Then they started along the pathway. "Mind the green slop," cautioned Julia. "It has the smell of toxic waste. It's a harmless scent, but if it touches you, it will melt through armor, skin, and bone."

“Nice one, now we have another weapon; their dislike of each other,” He grinned at her, “okay, try to avoid the green stuff. Well, things have quieted down here a bit, let’s get going.” He opened the door across the walkway, and---there was an imp, roaring and snarling, ready to spring. Paul knew he was in trouble; the big man was in the lead. Neither of his companions could fire without hitting him, and he wouldn’t be able to get off a shot in time.

It leapt. Everything seemed to slow down, he heard Julie’s cry, Mick’s shout of denial, and his own heartbeat. It was a surreal moment. He was so close to death. It began to press against him, threatening to knock him down when-WHAM!

The sound of his massive fist slamming into its ugly head seemed to be magnified a hundredfold. It hit the ground with a dull thud. It snorted, shaking its head. Pail stood over it, and right when it regained its senses and made a hissing noise, its red eyes full of hatred, his powergun put a bolt straight between its eyes. He looked over at the exit.

“Let’s get the hell outta her, I’ve had about enough.” He growled, glaring at the body, “And this hasn’t even begun yet.”

Little did he know just how right he was, and the horrors in store for them.

This is a doom rp, bugz. Create a character, role play em', lots of fun. It doesn't matter what kind of brass knuckles you have on your knife.

As enlightening as this conversation is...and I do find it very useful, I'd like to get on with the RP. Drail is game warden and I'm ther creator. I don't wan't it sent to the graveyard.

IC:
Paul, Julie, and Mick emerged into what looked like some sort of stageing area. It seemed quiet, but that was nothing to go by. "Before we go on, I got a dumb question, Mick, where are we?"

Mick sighed, taking a second. "Toxin refinery, this is where we process waste."

"Ah, well rest up a bit, well move on."
